Look! Another Leslie memorial that popped up on the streets of Austin. We think he’d be happy to see this.

One of my favorite performance during the music portion of SXSW this year was Santigold! While I didn’t get to watch her at the Spin shindig, I DID get to watch her full set at Fader Fort. The backup dancers, the props, the energy… All of it was just oustanding!

If you know anything about Austin, you know KGSR is the one and only radio station that plays music from local Austin musicians and other awesome artists like My Morning Jacket, The Decemberists, Mumford and Sons, The Black Keys, and many more. From Folk to Rock, to live acoustic performances, this radio station is my heart and soul. Even though I moved away from the live music capital almost a year ago, I still stream this station every morning while getting ready for work through their iPhone app.

Every year during SXSW, the station has a FREE live concert series from 6:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. somewhere downtown (last year, it was at The Four Seasons). Artists like She and Him, Fitz and the Tantrums, The Old 97’s, and G Love and Special Sauce have taken the stage for this early morning music celebration.

Check out this year’s schedule to see if any of your favorite performers will be taking the stage at The W. I’ll be there for Bob Schenider, M. Ward, Ben Kweller, Jimmy Cliff, Delta Spirit, Citizen Cope, and Keane.

Pandora is coming to Austin for their very first unofficial SXSW showcase, and you can bet it’s going to be awesome!

Join us at the Pandora Discovery Den from March 13-16 for live music and good times. A few performances that we’re looking forward to are Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr., Neon Trees, Gary CLark Jr. and the DJ set by !!!.

Entry is free with RSVP so go ahead and reserve your wristband now!

Who’s Hou is a great resource that is helping to connect Houstonians who will be attending the SXSW conference this year! The @Whos_HOU twitter feed reminded me that in addition to seeing familiar faces around the Austin Convention Center, there will be lots of musical acts from Houston in Austin during the week as well!

Having gone to high school in Houston, I grew up going to shows featuring some of these artists and I invite you to check them out if you get a chance during the week! If you’d like to know more about them, follow them on Twitter @fattonyrap, @wildmoccasins, @thetontons

The Mess with Texas Party never fails to provide a great day time show, which is free and open to all ages. I’m especially excited for Deerhoof, Ceremony, Two Gallants, Built To Spill, A$OP ROCKY, and the Yelle DJ set.
